Solange Laberge
Title: Safety Analyst
Company: NB Power

Solange works in the Nuclear Safety Department as a safety analyst, where she reviews safety analyses and determines analyzed limits. In her role, Solange enjoys facing new technical challenges every day. She credits her most rewarding project as supporting the plant restart after the Point Lepreau Generating Station refurbishment outage.

Eng in Nuclear Engineering from l'Ecole Polytechnique de l'Université de Montréal.  She is currently a Professional Engineer in New Brunswick and Québec.

Solange feels she was most influenced in her career by her professors at McGill University, the engineers who supervised her while working at Hydro-Quebec, and her supervisor and peers while developing the skills required to be a lead auditor when she worked for the Independent Assessment Group at Pt. Lepreau. Together these people have provided her with a strengthen technical work ethic, increased flexibility and ability to make decisions. She receives personal satisfaction from solving problems and recommending solutions by considering all aspects (technical, financial, safety, schedule and strategy). Solange's believes “you can always achieve your dreams as long as you learn to tailor them to your abilities, potential and willingness to succeed. For every dream you work hard to achieve but are not always successful, there is another one waiting to come through. So just keep working at it and don’t give up”.

Solange got involved with WiN to be part of a team. It gives her a feeling of belonging and allows her to exchange ideas with others who may experience similar challenges and successes. WiN also supports her personal and career goals of networking.
