Women in Nuclear - WiN Canada

Nancy MacDonald Exel is the Chief Financial Officer at Kinectrics Inc. In this role she is responsible for all finance, facilities and IT functions within the company.  Her most rewarding professional finance project to date had her transitioning Kinectrics from a division of Ontario Power Generation to a successful, growing and independent energy testing, inspection and consulting company.  

Prior to Kinectrics she was an audit partner for a large accounting firm and CFO of a NASDAQ and TSX publicly listed automotive supplier company. Nancy has earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.  She received her Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.  Nancy admits she loves her job because it allows her the opportunity to meet a lot of great people.  

Given the chance to speak with today’s youth she would say “decide what the ‘big rocks’ are in your life and protect them. Don’t try to do it all alone – surround yourself with really good people who can help you both at home and at the office” and then reach for the stars. 

She decided to join WiN after receiving a personal invite from Parva Alavi, the chapter lead of WiN’s Golden Horseshoe West chapter.  She is active in encouraging Kinectrics women to join WiN to network in this growing industry.   As a new member to WiN, Nancy is looking forward to getting more involved with the association in the future. When she finds time for herself Nancy enjoys golfing, reading and playing a game of bridge.
