Jill Doucett
Company: NB Power
As Director of Business Excellence Processes, Jill has the accountability for ensuring that NB Power Nuclear’s Management System is effective and efficient in helping to achieve the business results expected through alignment with the overall NB Power Nuclear business strategy. This is in part accomplished by having the appropriate documentation, processes and procedures, and with the right information systems in place to enable and accelerate the processes, while also ensuring associated initiatives are strategically linked with those of the corporation.
In this new role Jill is looking forward to the opportunity to drive continuous improvement initiatives and effect change. Though the potential benefits have not yet been fully realized, Jill is optimistic that by engaging employees at all levels across the organization, she with members of her department can help facilitate changes that will improve their work lives.
Jill joined the company 26 years ago. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. Jill’s time with the company has included roles in Construction, Generation and Information Systems and prior to joining Nuclear, included 15 years in Human Resources where she acquired certification and qualification in psychometric evaluations. Presently, to support her process improvement focus, Jill is progressing her Lean Six Sigma certification through the College of Extended Learning at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.
Great supporters and mentors have been a tremendous blessing for Jill in her career path. By having confidence in her, it in turn grew her self-confidence which has enabled her to take on new challenges and fulfill new roles along the way. One of the maxims she learned along the way and would like to share with young people is that “timing isn’t everything, it’s the only thing”, encouraging them to be prepared and look for that time when opportunity appears.
Jill initially became involved with the WiN organization as a support for women in a traditionally male dominated environment, as well as for the educational aspect. Also, as a Director in the company, she is in a position of influence that has benefited the local Chapter. The WiN organization has in addition given her opportunities to widen her network and created ability for increased visibility to the efforts and accomplishments of NB Power.
