Women in Nuclear - WiN Canada

Gillian Shearer comes to WiN from Bruce Power, where she works as the Code of Conduct and Privacy Officer. Her role entails educating employees on the Code of Conduct matters at Bruce Power, as well as investigating Code of Conduct and privacy issues. 

Gillian says her favourite part of the job is interacting with different people and assisting in resolving issues as they arise. While trouble-shooting and advising are major parts of her job, Gillian also finds her other roles equally as rewarding; particularly any work she does to increase employee engagement. She is also active in helping to improve the profile of the Code of Conduct Office and in promoting an ethical workplace culture. 

Gillian’s background is well suited to her position. She did her BA Honours in Political Studies and then completed her law degree at Queen’s. She credits her former boss, Paulene Pasieka with being an incredible career mentor.

Gillian joined WiN-Canada as a newcomer to the industry back in 2009, out of a desire to connect with other women in the area, and in the nuclear industry in general. So far the networking opportunities have proved satisfying!
