Cherie Ferrari
Title: Manager of Training
Company: Kinectrics

Cherie Ferrari is currently employed as the Manager of Training at Kinectrics. As Manager of Training, Cherie is responsible for developing and delivering training on Kinectrics’ energy expertise for the energy sector.

She says the most enjoyable part of her job is twofold, first working on training projects with engineers and scientists in the energy community and second, helping to train and find mentors for the young people who are entering the field. She loves to learn more about science and the technology that powers the energy sector.

Thus far Cherie’s most rewarding projects have been establishing the Training practice within Kinectrics and working with the Subject Matter Experts to develop over 50 Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) compliant courses and, working on special projects, such as developing a nine-week curriculum on Transformers. She was very pleased that the Kinectrics Training initiative was cited as a best practice by the Energy Sector Council.

Cherie attended McGill University completing special studies in French Language, Sir George Williams (Concordia) University earning a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree and St Francis Xavier University for Adult Learning.

Cherie recognizes the excellent managers she has reported to over her career as her greatest influencers. They challenged her with interesting projects and supported her product, service and continuous improvement initiatives.

Her advice to young people entering the energy sector would be “to find a mentor and ask for informational interviews, tours and volunteer work assignments.” Also, “try and get practical experience as a Co-op Student or taking a year to do a Professional Experience Year (PEY).”

Cherie was inspired to get involved with WiN to meet more women working in the nuclear industry. She loves to network with WiN members and learn from their personal experiences and to share professional development opportunities.

Outside the office Cherie enjoys reading, painting and travelling.

As created Nov. 2, 2011.
