Janice Louise MacLean

Janice Louise MacLean
Title: ASR-Technical
Company: NB Power Nuclear

Janice has been with NB Power since 1991. She started as a casual employee eventually landing a full time position.  Her roles have changed throughout the years from Administrative to Technical to her present position as a Contract Coordinator for Plant Maintenance. Her schooling came from two different areas, Retail Management in Cornwall, Ontario and Administrative Services from Community College in New Brunswick. She uses a variety of her learned skills to effectively help in her current job.

As a Contract Coordinator, Janice supports the mechanical, electrical and service maintenance teams to contract services and materials for planning and expediting work. This involves communication to all levels of management to complete necessary requirements such as working with and getting approved recommendation and approvals, tenders and purchase orders, scope of work and request for quotes. She co-ordinates, administers and facilitates contracts daily with plant maintenance and work management specialists, as well as working with system specialists and operations. This involves using her sales expertise, patience, diligence, administrative functions and above all respect for all individuals.

In addition to her full time position, Janice is a member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and facilitates the lost control meetings monthly for the mechanical department. She is an active member of the Point Lepreau Toastmasters Club with ATM (Advanced Toastmasters) Gold and is diligently working towards a Distinguished level. Janice also enjoys reading mystery novels, shopping and travelling.

Janice says the best part of her job is working with great people and the teamwork at Point Lepreau. She gets personal satisfaction helping the team get the job done. Her motivational message to young girls would be to never forget where you came from and always help others when you can ….don’t ever give up.

Her co-worker June Connell, senior Technical Specialist, has influenced Janice the most, in being very supportive and always ready to give a helping hand when needed.

Janice became a member of WiN because she admires women who are persistent and want to help each other in a positive manner.
