WiNners participate in Movember
WiNners participate in Movember
November 01, 2012
Not to be out done by our male counterparts WiNners in the nuclear industry are participating in Movember.
For those of you not familiar with Movember, it is the month of new, and in many cases, uniquely designed moustaches to raise funds for a good cause. In past years the cause has been prostate cancer. This year the funds are being split 60 per cent going to prostate cancer programs and 40 per cent going to male mental-health programs.
Diane Williams, Mechanical Maintainer at Bruce Power chose a different approach to the ‘stache’ by sporting a new tattoo that provides a ready moustache for Movember activities. Last year, Anna MacIntosh, Section Manager at Bruce Power was crowned Miss Movember for her unique moustache. I wonder what Anna will come up with this month.

This year, the Canadian Nuclear Association has created Team NUvember, Canada’s first nuclear industry-wide foray into the popular Movember fundraising campaign! Team NUvember invites workers from across the Canadian nuclear industry to join together and become one of Canada’s top Movember 2012 fundraising groups. With a workforce of 60,000+, we can expect to see some great moustaches raising money for an excellent cause. Fundraising has already begun, and started out strong with a $200 donation from collections at the WiN-Canada 2012 Conference! To join, donate, or seek more information on Team NUvember and the Movember campaign, visit www.cna.ca/movember, or contact Alex Wolf at wolfa@cna.ca.
Colleen Sidford, WiN-Canada's President collects $200 from WiNners to start the campaign fundraising at the closing reception of the WiN-Canada 9th Annual Conference.
Last year, Canada had over 245,000 Movember participants and raised more than any other country at $42 million.
If any other WiNners are participating in the cause let me know. We’d love to feature your picture on the WiN-Canada website. For all other WiNners we encourage you to show your support by donating to the cause. I’m sure Diane and Anna would be happy to receive your donations to support their unique style of moustache.
