GIRLS Science Camp - Day One

GIRLS Science Camp - Day One

August 10, 2009

Women in Nuclear (WiN)-Canada sponsors a camp for 25 girls at the Bruce Power Visitors' Centre. Day One was all about fun!

We began the day with some ice breakers so that we could all get to know one another.

We talked a little about our week-long project that will be presented to parents on Friday. It's a surprise parents so -don't ask any questions!

We worked with dry ice and learned all about sublimation. Did you know that the melting point of dry ice is -78.5 degrees C? Yikes that is cold.

We talked a bit about sharing the universe and looked at some soil samples to determine which sample contained a living organism.

We did a few crafts at the end of the day. Played a little soccer and frisbee at lunch. Had a great pizza lunch and snacks.

All in all a very successful first day at camp.

Check out the pictures from our first day, but be patient they take a while to load.
