To wrap up the year, I wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on the wonderful accomplishments within the WiN organization over the past year:

* WiN-Canada membership continues to grow with an 18% increase
over last year.
* We generated a profit and saw record attendance at the WiN-Canada Annual Conference 2010, which was the first time we held the conference outside the CNA. Our first time offer of sponsorship to the industry exceeded our expectations.
* We participated in 5 Skills Canada dinners across Canada,
helping to support 4 dinners through sponsorship and participating in a 5th with 3 more dinners to take place in the spring of 2011. WiN bringing the Skills dinner to New Brunswick in 2009 has resulted in 4 dinners being held across the province.

 * We ensured inclusion of Nuclear Operator position in all Skills
Canada publications, including their Skills Work! That booklet goes into all high schools.
* We facilitated a successful GIRLS Science Camp and 4 club
sessions.
* We produced a video on nuclear careers in partnership with The
Learning Partnership, which is being accessed by all high schools across Ontario and beyond. A teacher's guide is also being developed to support the video.
* We secured continued support for the full time Executive
Director position from Bruce Power and OPG.
* We nominated 4 WiNners for awards - Awards were won by Jad
Popovic, CNS Fellow and Colleen Sidford, Catalyst Canada Honours Awards for Business Leader Champion.
* We facilitated a workshop at CNA conference on Women Working in
the Skilled Trades.
* We held an information meeting at CNS conference to encourage
more members from Quebec.
* We are just completing a position paper on Women in the Skills
Trades co-written with Skills Canada-Ontario.
* We designed 3 new banner bugs to replace our tired 2004 booth.
* We were asked to sit on the Communication Working Committee at the CNA.
* We were invited to the table to discuss co-operation with other
industry organizations in Canada.
* Our website drew 24,251 unique visitors who viewed 111,893 pages
from 139 countries. The blog was read 10,351 times over the past year and the women on WiN feature drew 6,131 page views.
* We continue to work on the incorporation of WiN.
* We got the election documentation out to members ready for
an election in early 2011.
* Along with many great local chapter activities mentoring young
people and covering excellent topics with great speakers in their meetings.

It has been a very busy 2010 and 2011 proves to be just as active. All this work is the result of wonderful leaders in the nuclear community who are committed to WiN’s success and to helping the nuclear industry be successful. I  hope you all come back renewed and ready to take an active role in all WiN's accomplishments in 2011.

As my final blog for 2010, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the happiest of holidays. Enjoy your time with family and friends. It has been a great year for Women in Nuclear (WiN) and we look forward to bigger and better things in 2011.

WiNfluence will be back in January 2011.
